4. European Trade Union Institute

In April 2005, the three former ETUC centres of expertise - the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), the European Trade Union College (ETUCO), and the European Trade Union Technical Bureau for Health and Safety (TUTB), joined together to form the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI).

Each branch of the ETUI works in its own specialist area:
· The ETUI Research Department conducts scientific research on socio-economic issues and industrial relations and provides expertise to the ETUC. It forms a link between the European trade union movement and academia.
· The ETUI Education Department is the general training body of the ETUC. Its role is to devise and deliver training programmes for the ETUC as a whole and develop the European dimension in trade union education at all levels.
· The ETUI Health and Safety Department monitors the framing, national incorporation and implementation of European legislation in the field of occupational health and safety.
