ETUC Statement of support for the mobilisation of Belgian trade unions on 12 March
Adopted at the Executive Committee meeting of 10-11 March 2026
The ETUC expresses its full support with the Belgian trade unions mobilising on Thursday 12 March in Brussels.
Workers across Belgium mobilise against measures that would force people to work longer for lower pensions, would increase job insecurity and precarious conditions, would undermine wage indexation, and would continue the dismantling of public services.
The collective mobilisation by trade unions and workers in Belgium is making a difference in defending workers’ rights and employment and social protections, and the government had already to correct or cancel a number of very damaging proposals.
The ETUC stands with Belgian workers and their unions in demanding fair pensions, real social dialogue, safe working conditions with a correct remuneration of night work, fair conditions for overtime work, job security, in particular for young people, and tax justice.
Their call for a real change of direction is necessary, and must be listened to!
We stand with them in this fight, “Arizona, Trop c’est trop!”
