On Tuesday December 12, workers from across Europe will come together in Brussels for a major demonstration against EU plans to reintroduce austerity rules.

Trade union leaders from Belgium, France, Italy and at European level will set out the problems with and alternatives to plans to reintroduce austerity through the reform of the EU’s economic governance rules.

When: 9:15am, Tuesday 12 December.

Who: ETUC General Secretary Esther Lynch, FGTB (Belgium) President Thierry Bodson, CSC (Belgium) General Secretary Marie-Hélène Ska, CFDT (France) Marylise Léon, CGT (France) Sophie Binet, CGIL (Italy) Maurizio Landini, UIL (Italy) PierPaolo Bombardieri and EPSU Jan-Willem Goudriaan.

There will be passive interpretation from Italian, French and Dutch into English (with headsets available on site).

At the end of the press conference, there will be an opportunity for national media to speak separately with the leaders of the unions from their home countries.

Coffee and pastries will be available for participants.
