ETUC Project «Informal and Non Formal learning (NFIL): parallel practices for a systemic integration»

Brussels, 2012

Between September 2011 and July 2012 the ETUC carried out the European project: « Informal - Non Formal learning (NFIL): parallel practices for a systemic integration? » with the support of the European Commission.

The project's main objective was to assess the extent of systemic initiatives in non-formal and informal learning in the different EU member states and the input of trade unions to these initiatives.
The project consisted in a number of activities:
- A comparative study, based on a survey of ten European countries blending the ambition of the public NFIL validation policies and the involvement of the social players in the design and implementation of those policies.
- National reports, outlining NFIL and validation practices in ten member states (Denmark, Italy, France, UK, Germany, Poland, Finland, Portugal, Spain and Romania).
- A pan-European conference that took place in Lisbon, on 26-27 June 2012 and that that brought together over 70 participants trade unionists and public policy practioners involved in validation of NFIL.
