Dear Marylise and Laurent,
On behalf of the whole European Trade Union Confederation and all its members, I would also like to congratulate Marylise on her election as new General Secretary of the CFDT.
I want to give you all our best wishes for success in leading the CFDT in the years ahead.
I know that, with your substantial experience in social dialogue, expertise on the environment and record of fighting for women’s rights, you will make a huge contribution to the progress of the labour movement in France and Europe.
I am looking forward to working with you and your team at the CFDT to build on the legacy left by Laurent and deliver the fair deal for workers that is so badly needed.
I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Laurent for the commitment you have given to our movement as the General Secretary of the CFDT.
I also want to thank you wholeheartedly for the huge contribution you have made to the cause of working people at a European level, and in particular to the European Trade Union Confederation.
First as the representative of the CFDT and most recently as ETUC President, you have steered us through challenging debates and given the benefit of your invaluable experience to the Secretariat.
Your record will show that you are a visionary leader of the trade union movement and a true and convinced European. Laurent, thank you for your exemplary work for the ETUC and the European trade union movement.
