The ETUC congratulates Sophie Binet on her re-election as General Secretary of the CGT and stands with her in facing down the disgraceful campaign of corporate lawfare being waged against her.
The support received by Binet at the CGT congress in Tours this week sends a clear message to bosses that trade unionists will not be silenced by vexatious legal threats. The ETUC calls again on national governments and the EU to stop the rising use of these union-busting tactics.
The ETUC also salutes the international show of strength against the far-right held at the congress. More than 100 trade unionists from 71 countries came together to send a clear message that the far-right speak for billionaire business elites and not working people – who will continue standing together.
