Call to Action : Joint ETUC-ITUC Statement on the Global Compact for Safe Orderly and Regular Migration Intergovernmental Negotiations

Dear colleagues, please find attached a join statement by ETUC and ITUC aimed at influencing the negotiations on the Global Compact for Migration. ETUC and ITUC jointly call for a Global Compact "robust, comprehensive, and rooted in international human and labour rights law. It must ensure full protections for all migrants, regardless of status". There is a strong concern on the role played by the EU in the negotiations and on the stress that is being put on irregular migration and 'illegal' status of migrants.
