Brussels, 23 February 2023

To: Members of the Youth Committee

Dear Members of the Youth Committee,

With this email we would like to open registrations for a highly anticipated event: Train of Remembrance, which will take place in Linz, Austria on 25-27th March and focuses on the need to combat fascism and other far-right ideologies across Europe.

Since 2017 this annual event is organised by ETUC members from Italy (CGIL, CISL, UIL) and brings around 200 young people. However, the problem of the far-right can not be faced in the national context only and therefore this year the event is open to the participation of international guests.

The venue of the conference will be symbolically the museum and memorial of MAUTHAUSEN, a Nazi concentration camp where the inmates were subjected to forced labour, under conditions that caused many deaths.

ETUC Youth Committee, thanks to its partnership with FES (Friedrich Ebert Foundation) will participate in the program with an international delegation and organise an international workshop with other young trade unionists participating in the event.  During the workshop, participants will work on concrete recommendations for Trade Union actions to limit the currently rising influence of the far-right, in the election polls as well as in the workplace.

In the attachment, you will find a draft agenda of the event.

Practical information:

Travel and accommodations for youth committee members will be booked and covered by the organisers.

Arrivals (to the airport of Vienna) are expected on 25th March in the morning
Departures are expected on 27th March (all day)

The working language of the event will be English.

Registration

Members of the Youth Committee are encouraged to circulate the invitation among their colleagues, particularly those working/ interested in topics often targeted by far-right narratives.

Interested members can register via the following link.

Please note that delegations from the same organisation must respect gender balance during the registration.

Geographical and gender balance will be taken into account during the selection process.

For any questions or further information, please do not hesitate to contact Lucie Susova, ETUC Youth Coordinator ([email protected]).

We are looking forward to seeing you in Linz.  #NoPasaran
