Youth Bureau invites you to join the action

Call to Action : Join the #1MAY online action!

Brussels 20/04/2020

  • To members of the ETUC Youth Committee.

Dear Members of the Youth Committee,

With this email, we would like to invite you to join our online action for Labour Day! This year the celebration will be different, instead of the streets, we will have to take over the internet!

This pandemic showed that our society is not based on a few decision-makers and shareholders but on millions of workers who are working long hours, in bad conditions and badly paid.  As we have seen in the aftermath of the financial crisis, young people are a particularly vulnerable group. Especially those with low income or without a job. To prevent a new wave of youth unemployment in Europe, the political decision-makers must act decisively now.

With our online action, we want to raise awareness and celebrate workers and the Trade Unions that are at the forefront representing those whose voice is often not heard. By creating organic photo collage we will show the large scope, the eagerness and the determination with which we fight for workers rights, crisis or not.

We will celebrate Labour Day online this year and we will stand together in solidarity with all young people, workers and students!

What to do?
This pan-European photo action is very simple.

1) Take a picture of your self with a sign answering our questions: What is your Trade Union fighting for?  The answer can be one word or short sentence, in English or in your language, on a piece of paper or any other creative material you find. Be careful: The picture should be horizontal (ideally square) and the sign should be well visible

2) Send us a picture at [email protected] or upload it here. We will collect them and publish big collage together with the statement on 30th April.

3) Post the picture on social media. Make people around yourself aware about what you are fighting for and do not forget to tag us! Twitter @EtucYouth
Facebook @etucyouth using a hashtag #1MAY and #PandemicOfSolidarity

4) Encourage your friends and colleagues to join our action to show the extend of our work and to give weight to our demands.

If you have any question or if you want to share with us your national Labour Day campaign do not hesitate to get in touch.

Hope to see many of you in our final collage.

All the best,

Lucie & ETUC Youth Committee Bureau
