Dear Members of the Parliament,

Ahead of the exchange of views in presence of Helena Dalli (Commissioner) on the European Disability Strategy post-2020 of this afternoon, I would like to hereby share with you the  position of the European Trade Union Confederation on a new European Disability Strategy.

The new strategy should be the main tool at EU level to ensure the full social and economic inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. The ETUC position encompasses the European trade union demands on employment, with specific reference to fight against discrimination, active labour market policies, occupational safety and health, adaptation of the workplace to the functionality of a worker with disability, collective bargaining, funding, statistics, and education and culture.

With best regards,

Per Hilmersson
Deputy General Secretary
