Updated ETUC media advisory on Treaty of Rome anniversary

European trade unions leaders in Rome to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome will give a press conference on March 24, 17.30 - Palazzo Chigi, Piazza Colonna, 370, Roma with ETUC General Secretary Luca Visentini, ETUC President Rudy De Leeuw and General Secretaries Carmelo Barbagallo, Susanna Camusso, Annamaria Furlan of the 3 Italian trade unions UIL, CGIL, CISL.

The press conference follows a Tripartite Social Summit with employers and trade unions hosted by the Italian Prime Minister Gentiloni, and including EU Presidents Juncker and Tusk, Commissioners Dombrovskis and Thyssen, and the Prime Ministers of Malta, Sweden and Estonia. A joint declaration by trade unions and employers on the future of Europe will be presented to the Summit. The Summit will take place from 15.30 to 17.00 in the Italian Prime Minister’s premises, Palazzo Chigi, Piazza Colonna, 370, Roma

A Trade union summit with Italian trade union leaders from national, sectoral and regional level of all 3 Italian trade unions, together with delegation of European trade union leaders will take place from 10.00 to 13:00 in Auditorium di via Rieti, Via Rieti 13, Roma

On March 25: ETUC General Secretary attends the celebration of 60th anniversary of the signing of the Treaties and the signature of the Rome Declaration from 10.00 to 11.50 in Palazzo dei Conservatori, Campidoglio 

Taking part in the Trade Union Summit and Tripartite Social Summit will be: Luca Visentini,  Katja Lehto-Komulainen, Rudy De Leeuw (ETUC), Carmelo Barbagallo, Susanna Camusso, Annamaria Furlan (UIL, CIGL, CISL, Italy), Josef Bugeja (GWU, Malta), Eva Nordmark (TCO, Sweden), Peep Peterson (EAKL, Estonia), Luc Triangle (IndustriAll) and Esther Lynch (ETUC).
