‘Promoting Green Reps to reach Europe 2020 objectives’

Unions are working on the implementation of the Europe 2020 goals Environmental sustainability and good work

The EU’s new strategy “Europe 2020”, which replaces the Lisbon Agenda, puts considerable emphasis on innovation and green growth. The European trade unions are a key player in the implementation of environmental and industrial policy objectives, particularly regarding the creation of well-paid and sustainable jobs.

In order to improve engagement of trade unions’ representatives in the development and implementation of environmental policy and to address lack of knowledge of the environmental issues at stake regionally in the trade union movement it has been set up, with the support of ETUC, an international team of union players from six countries in the framework of the "Trade Union Green Delegates for Europe 2020 Objectives”.

The project partners will gather examples of good practice in a Guide which can support the trade unions’ representatives in their activities related to the implementation and development of environmental and industrial policy objectives. The project period ends on 31 August 2012. ETUC is a project partner.

The project is funded by the European Union
