The ETUC meets a tripartite Palestinian Authority delegation
Bernadette Ségol, General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), met with a Palestinian tripartite delegation headed by Labour Minister Dr Ahmed Madjalani. The main focus of the meeting was the promotion of social dialogue.
In connection with a visit to the European institutions, a delegation composed of representatives from the trade union and employers’ organisations, civil society and Labour Ministry of the Palestinian Authority met the ETUC General Secretary.
The main subjects of discussion were the promotion of social dialogue and the implementation of a committee for economic, social and civil dialogue within the framework of a project by the International Labour Office (ILO) in Beirut.
Bernadette Ségol described the current state of social dialogue in Europe. She also highlighted the ETUC’s support for the peace process in the region, pointing out that the Athens Congress resolution calls on the European Union not to deepen its bilateral political and economic relations with the government of Israel while the country continues its settlement activities.
