The Executive Committee of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) meets in Brussels on 15-16 March. The meeting will set out the trade union position on some of the crucial issues up for decision at the forthcoming Spring Summit. The current President of the European Council, Jean-Claude Juncker, will attend part of the Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday.
On the agenda is a resolution on vitalising the Lisbon Strategy, together with a joint declaration - with the other European social partners - on the strategy’s mid-term review and the way forward.
Participants will also discuss a framework of actions on gender equality, and respond to the European Commission’s Green Paper on managing economic migration in the EU.
The Executive Committee meeting will be followed by a press conference at 14.00 on 16 March, at the Résidence Palace in Brussels.
