ETUC meets the Indignants
The General Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) met a European delegation of the “Indignant” movement today. She noted that concerns about the situation of young people in Europe converge on many points.
Bernadette Ségol declared: “It is important for ETUC to meet with the Indignants because we share a large number of their concerns. The society of the future must be able to secure stability for its youth. The crisis has however hit European young people hard with youth unemployment exceeding 40% in Greece and Spain. Precariousness is becoming the rule for many young Europeans – a large number of whom are seeking better opportunities by emigrating. The future of our young people is at stake, and the European Union must address this problem.”
