
Civil Society Dialogue: bringing together workers from Turkey and the European Union through a shared culture of work

The overall objective was to strengthen contacts and mutual exchange of experience between the trade unions of Turkey and trade unions of EU Member States and through them, their members and activities with a view to ensure a better knowledge and understanding of one another, and an awareness of the opportunities and challenges of future enlargement. This objective was achieved.
The project partners were TÜRK-İŞ, HAK-İŞ, DİSK, CGT, CFDT, FO, UNSA, CFTC, TUC, CSC, CGSLB, FGTB, CISL, CGIL, UIL, KOZ SR, LO-S, GSEE, ADEDY, EMF, EFFAT, ETUF-TCL, EPSU, ETF, UNI-Europa.
All planned activities (25 seminars and 2 conferences) were carried out, with the participation of 1,605 representatives of workers in companies from Turkey (1386 planned) and 503 from EU countries (579 planned). There was 20% female participation.
The survey will be available in English, French, Greek, Slovak and Turkish.
The 9 training modules will be available in Dutch, English, French, Greek, Italian, Slovak and Turkish.
Following on from this successful project, the ETUC has applied to carry out a new EU-Turkey project ‘Making the best of young people’s potential in a trade union environment’.
