ETUC condemns the European Commissioner for regional policy’s statement on delocalisation of companies
The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) is alarmed by Commissioner Danuta Hübner’s assertion, reported this week in newspaper interviews, that the EU must “facilitate delocalisation within Europe”.
Said ETUC General Secretary John Monks, “I hope that Commissioner Hübner was misunderstood, because if she did say that the emigration of jobs (delocalisation) was to be encouraged, it was a crass statement, insensitive and inept.
“There will be some delocalisation, but it cannot just be at the whim of companies and there must be safeguards.”
