Meeting of the ETUC Executive Committee

The European trade unions will meet within the executive committee of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) on 9th and 10th March 2010. This meeting will be the opportunity to formulate messages for the European Councils taking place throughout the month of March.

The ETUC will discuss the aggravation of the economic crisis and notably the deterioration of the employment situation. Messages will be formulated in view of the EPSCO Council [1] of 8th and 9th March but also in view of the Tripartite Social Summit and Spring Council of 25th and 26th March. Proposals will include those to regulate the financial markets and to avoid the return of speculation that devastates economies.

Other current issues such as the situation in Greece will be debated together with questions which have been on the European trade union movement’s agenda for a long time such as the directive on the posting of workers and the all-important social chapter of the internal market.
