The Executive Committee of the European trade Union Confederation (ETUC) wishes to express its solidarity and support for the workers of the Polish shipbuilding industry struggling for their jobs. We appeal to the Polish government to elaborate, as soon as possible, a viable business solution for the shipyards which will take European competition rules and the objective of preserving jobs into consideration. We appeal also to the European Commission to give the Polish government time to introduce a proposal which might save the Polish shipbuilding industry and thousands of jobs before the eventual decision about the public aid is taken.
