11th conference of the United Nations Climate Change Convention (COP 11)
The 11th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP11), as well as the 1st Conference of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (MOP1) will take place from 28 November to 9 December 2005 in Montreal (Canada).
These two meetings signal a crucial moment in the climate negotiations because they will be the first opportunity to discuss the follow-up to the Kyoto Protocol, which came into force on 16 February 2005. A trade union delegation of about 50 people will be present at the conference, including representatives from the ETUC, the ICFTU, and trade union organisations from Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Italy, and the UK, as well as many other northern and southern countries. The trade union delegation in Montreal will organise a conference on Wednesday 7 December on the theme of ‘National Frameworks for the World of Work’. Programme
