The ETUC protests against Australian anti-union legislation
The Australian Government is currently introducing repressive new industrial relations legislation which will dramatically reduce the rights of workers to union representation, collective bargaining, minimum employment standards and protection from unfair dismissal.
To protest against these measures, the ETUC sent a letter to the President of the current European Union, Tony Blair. Furthermore, today representatives of ETUC, ICFTU (International Confederation of Free Trade Unions), Education International and World Confederation of Labour (WCL) went to the Australian Embassy to present a letter to the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms Alison Burrows .
