The ETUC supports Polish trade unions’ days of action
On 11-14 September 2013, all three Polish trade union confederations – FZZ, NSZZ “Solidarność”, and OPZZ, members of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) – will be holding nationwide Days of Action against the worsening living conditions and pension systems, high unemployment and the recent anti-social labour law reforms. The ETUC supports its Polish members in their protests and fights for a fairer society.
Józef Niemiec, Deputy ETUC General Secretary, who will take part in the massive demonstration to be held on the streets of Warsaw on 14 September, said: “We support our Polish trade union affiliates in their action. We are shocked by the fact that they are forced to fight for workers’ rights in the same way as their colleagues from those countries most affected by the crisis. We are also deeply concerned about the changes in working time protection, which conflict with European legislation as well as the unacceptable increase in precarious job contracts”.
