Tour of the EU Capitals "Towards a social dimension of the European Union" Bernadette Ségol to meet Robert Fico, the Prime Minister of Slovak Republic
As announced in December 2012, the forthcoming European Council of 27 and 28 June will focus on the social dimension of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). In advance of this key European Summit for the European workers, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) has launched a “Tour of the EU Capitals” to promote a social dimension of the European Union which ensures social progress, full employment as well as minimum social standards for all the Member States.
The first stop of this tour will be Bratislava, where Bernadette Ségol, General Secretary of the ETUC will meet Robert Fico, Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic. This high-level meeting will take place on Thursday 16 May 2013 at 11.00 am at the Government Office building. A press conference will be held after the meeting. Before this, Bernadette Ségol will meet the representatives of KOZ SR, the Confederation of Trade Unions of the Slovak Republic, affiliated to the ETUC. For the European trade union, a change of course is needed to face the social emergency. Without an end to austerity policies and concrete measures for growth and employment, democratic support for the European project will be in doubt.
